The Bass Rock in the Firth of Forth, just over 3 miles from North Berwick, is home to amongst other seabirds, a huge colony of Gannets. Some can be seen flying in the sky in this picture and the rock is coloured by them and their guano! The island was at one time owned by the Lauders of The Bass, from whom Sir Harry Lauder is descended.

Under the lighthouse are the remains of an old prison!

If you are interested in seabirds, then why not visit the Scottish Seabird Centre in North Berwick.
