A jump back to November 2004 for this picture of the Aurora Borealis known in Scotland as "the merry dancers" or 'na fir-chlis'. This particular brilliant show over Auchtermuchty in Fife spread as far south as directly overhead.

The posting of this picture was inspired by the wonderfully heretical and blasphemous book "His Dark Materials" by Philip Pullman. The Trilogy which I have just about finished must be one of the best 'books' I have ever read.

I couldn't believe the good fortune when I found out that the makers of The Lord of the Rings have made the first book (The Northern Lights) into a movie, entitled The Golden Compass, starring Daniel Craig & Nicole Kidman. Due for release on Dec 7th 2007, this is a must see movie... enjoy the 1016 pages of the book before the release, buy it here.
