Today the weather was overcast, dull, damp and a raw 39 degrees fahrenheit. It was so dull, I left my camera at home. So with no pictures to take, I popped into Kind Kyttock's Kitchen in Falkland, Fife and had to resort to using my phone for this 'snap'! Kind Kyttock's is a traditional tearoom which I have been visiting since I was a boy. They serve home-made soups like the scotch-broth pictured; home-baked rye bread; traditional cloutie dumpling; and their signature home-baked pancakes and scones with home-made jam. I hear they are worth travelling the length of Britain for. Tea is served by the pot, loose, that is, not in a bag. Tea-strainers are provided for that essential, authentic tearoom feel. Finally for those cold, damp, winter afternoons, a warm and welcoming open-hearth fire is usually blazing to warm you externally, to compliment the warming effects of the soup! |
