This picture was taken on my October 2009 trip to the Uists. I stayed at the Langass Lodge Hotel. On my first morning, I fumbled for my alarm clock, staggered to the window, pulled back a curtain... then grabbed my camera to capture this magnificent view. To finish it off, all around the hotel on the surrounding moors, Red Deer Stags were making their ritual mating call which made the sunrise experience complete, as did the last sliver of the moon lying on its back pointing, as it did, to the rising sun just below the horizon. This picture features on the January page of my 2010 calendar. |
