Castlebay is the main town on the Island of Barra at the southern end of the Outer Hebrides. Barra was used as the filmset for the 1949 film called 'Whisky Galore' based on Compton Mackenzie's book of the same name about the fictional island of 'Todday'.

The story was based on the fact that the SS Politician sank off the neighbouring island of Eriskay in 1941 with a cargo of Whisky and cash. I have seen a bottle of this whisky when visiting the islands but it didn't look like it would be worth drinking now!

This is a beautiful shot Graeme, I love the sunlight on the houses. Looks pretty idyllic - was it by any chance taken on a Sunday?

A classic Scottish story and film and a sharp and colourful scene. Is that a policeman on a bicycle coming round the corner?

A very quaint looking Scottish coastal village. Good view with the hills in the background. Not the kind of place you'd go for a wild night out, I suspect.
