Think Pink!

I was in town this evening (Sat) and noticed the new colour of the Balmoral Hotel Clock Tower. The Tower is being floodlit in Pink throughout October to raise awareness of breast cancer. During this time, 20% of the cost of every BOTTLE or GLASS of Pink Champagne purchased will be donated to Breast Cancer Research... sounds like a good excuse to clink those glasses!

Well done to the Balmoral Hotel for giving such a visibly high profile to such an important cause.

I was chaperoned by Big Sylv, Big Eck, Marie-Clare & Clare to ensure my integrity and safety of a Saturday evening up Calton Hill! Thanks for unlocking the doors to let me back in the car :)

Fellow photoblogger, Paul of Kulay Photography took a similar shot when they lit City Hall in San Francisco in February.

This picture shows the Balmoral Hotel with the Scott Monument on the right of the picture. An explanation of why the clock is always a couple of minutes fast was given here.

Firstly, lots of respect for braving Carlton Hill on a Saturday night - even with an entourage.

I particularly like the close up pic, and think the contrast of the pink clock tower against the shadowy Scott Monument is very striking. I also like the smattering of lights on the hills in the background.

As an aside I enjoy the background that you provide to your shots, for myself who moved to Edinburgh 3 years ago, they prove very informative.

I love the photo of the Balmoral. At first I thought you had done something in photoshop - I had no idea they were doing that for charity!
