I spent an enjoyable weekend as the guest of the SSTA at their Annual Congress in the Coylumbridge Hotel, Aviemore... only problem was the weather. After weeks of glorious sunshine we had a weekend of cloud, rain and, as you can see, spring snow on the Cairngorm.

This was my first proper chance to 'play' with my new lens and the lower photo taken last year at the same spot at Loch Morlich shows the distance and the area covered by the top shot.

I am looking forward to more practice and the tripod & remote release are now essential kit!!!

Top: Canon EOS-30D, 170-500mm @ 500mm, f/8, 1/400 sec, ISO-100
PP: Greyscale, Levels, Unsharpen

Bottom: Canon EOS-30D, 28-300mm @ 28mm, f/11, 1/400 sec, ISO-320
PP: Greyscale, crop, rectangle enhancement

That is an amazing lens Graeme - on last year's photo you wouldn't know there was a railway there. Will look forward to your firework photos this year!
