A Happy New Year to one and all and I hope that 2007 brings you many happy photo opportunities.

The shot today is from the top end of North Uist looking across the Vallay Strand at low tide to the island of Vallay. From this point the island appears to fill the bay, giving the appearance of a loch. However, when the tide comes in it does so rapidly. This is the starting point for many on miles of beach walks. The bay is also bordered by beautiful white holiday cottages, some thatched and with one of the finest examples of machair in the Hebrides.

It is just a shame the 'Wee Frees' have such a hold in North Uist. Holiday homes respectfully ask visitors NOT to hang out washing on the Sabbath!!
